This character is clearly valid for the genus Aulacopone, the only present in the Paleartic Fauna for this subfamily. This genus has been described from Armenia, and up to the moment is the only known locality for the single known species: Aulacopone relicta.
It must be taken into account that Bolton 1 considers this genus as incertae sedis under this subfamily as one single queen (without workers) is known [pg. 47]
