Edaphopaussus favieri (Fairmaire,1851)

Edaphopaussus favieri is a myrmecophilous beetle found in North Africa, Sicily, Iberian Peninsula and southern France, that lives with Pheidole pallidula. The  hosts lick its body specially on the big and glandular antennae. Even so,  E. favieri eats larvae and living workers of P. pallidula. This beetle prefers sunny places, and is specially found hanging on under the stones covering the nest. The following specimen was found in Montrebei, province of Lleida (Spain) june 2008.
