The genus Paratrechina in the Iberian Peninsula

The three species cited for the Iberian Peninsula (P. jaegerskioeldi, P. longicornis and P. vividula) are exotic and have been recently introduced. A fourth species, P. flavipes (F. Smith, 1874), has been cited in several articles from the Iberian Peninsula and Middle East.

Dr. James Trager has been kind enough to identify the material from our collections as P. vividula, opinion thet we share (Gómez & Espadaler 2006 1). The revision of the Iberian material make us conclude that this species is not present and all the citations belong to P. vividula. Other Mediterraean citations should be revised.
