Xavier Roig
xauxaxavier.roig@formigues.catPresentation:Hello, my name is Xavier Roig. I'm 55 years old. I'm an economist, a biologist and now a student of Catalan Phylology. My first teacher on ants, in distant 70's when I was young, was the wise entomologist Francesc Español (1907-1999) from the Museum of Zoology of Barcelona. After him, and forever, my teacher and friend has always been Dr. Xavier Espadaler from Autonomous University of Barcelona whom I will be forever grateful for all I know about ants. I'm the past President (2006-2008) of AIM (Iberian Association of Mirmecology) and an active member of Lamarabunta forum.
Now, under the guidance of professor Espadaler, I'm trying to finish a study on the Functional Groups of Ants for the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands, and their use as Bioindicators. I am very grateful to Kiko to help me with this great site on ants.
My participation in this portal is rather timely issues regarding taxonomy because due the objective of my research I am more interested in current topics in biology, ecology and distribution of ants but I am sure here there are many things that can help me. While I also hope to contribute a bit on the increase of knowledge about the ants.
See you (and read),
Xavier Roig
